About

In English, we use à la mode to order ice cream with our dessert, but in French, à la mode means in style.

Bonjour and welcome to my lifestyle blog!  My name is Whitney and I'm from the great state of Michigan. I am a lover of all things French, traveling, mystery novels, strawberry pie, cats and SHOPPING!

I am by no means a fashion expert but have started this blog as personal motivation to wear my clothing more creatively, clean-out my cluttered closet, shop for clothes on a budget and, ultimately, to be more fashionable!

When I started Whitney à la mode, I was a twenty-something teacher living in Washington D.C. and focusing my creative pursuits on fashion.  As my life has evolved, this blog has changed right alongside me.  Style on a budget is still my focus, but I also like to talk about the other things happening in my life right now, like exploring the new city I live in, leaving the teaching profession, running and planning a wedding with my prince charming.

I hope that you will enjoy sharing this journey with me!

I would love to hear from you!  Please contact me at whitneyalamode@gmail.com

Disclosure: I occasionally receive brand sponsorships for mentioning products and services.  I also use affiliate links to add income to my salary (a girl's gotta have money for buying clothes, right?!).  Each time you click on a link to a product on my blog, I might make a few cents.  Thanks or merci for reading!

  2. Nice to meet you, Whitney! It's always wonderful to meet a fellow teacher online. This is the time of year when it gets really hectic at school....lots of testing and paperwork to finish out the year. Hang in there! Love your blog!
